Hiking tour of the sights of Išlaužas eldership

On October 24, we invite you to join a walking tour of the sites of interest in the Išlaužas eldership.
9:30–10:00 – Gathering of participants in the Išlaužas eldership square.
10:00–10:30 – Visit to the “On the Paths of the Partisans” exhibition in the basement of the Išlaužas church.
10:30–14:00 – A 10 km hike along the route: Išlaužas – Pakumprys – Čiudiškiai. We will visit:
* The memorial cross for Lithuanian partisan Kazimieras Juočis (codenamed “Šatas”) in the village of Pakumprys;
* The Pakumprys primary school (in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Išlaužas school);
* A monument featuring three crosses, dedicated to the partisans of the “Geležinis Vilkas” (Iron Wolf) unit of the Tauras District;
* The birthplace of writer Vytautas Bubnys, which features a traditional Lithuanian *koplystulpis* (a pillar shrine).
The hike concludes at the ancestral home of traveler Matas Šalčius in Čiudiškiai. A bus will be available to take participants back to Išlaužas from the Matas Šalčius homestead.
